How do you paper train a dog?

i really need to know. oh yeah, it is a wired hair terrier and is about 2 years old.

How do you paper train a dog?

I've never tried to train a dog of that age, but I'm pretty sure it will work the same way. I always place paper (or a piddle pad) beside the door. (this is how I housebreak them to use it outside; we seldom have to use the paper except for accidents) Immediately upon waking up from a nap or bedtime, say, "Let's go outside!" real happy. About 15-30 minutes after eating or drinking, "Let's go outside!" (you can substitute to "go to the Paper!" if you're not thrilled about going outside yet). Also about 5-10 minutes after playing and then about 10-15 minutes before bedtime do the same thing. If you see you dog sniffing around and "hunting" quickly take them outside or place them on their paper. I always tell mine to "do their business" or "hurry up and potty." As soon as they have done their job, give LOTS AND LOTS of PRAISE!! A treat, a good rub, and a really HAPPY VOICE AND FACE makes them want to keep on pleasing you. If an accident should happen, take your dog to the accident, show it to him/her, and say,"NO, NO. Bad (dog's name). Go the the paper/outside." And then you take them to the spot that you want them to potty at. Soon, you should have a dog that will come and get you and either whine or bark wanting to go outside, or go to the door and bark or sit wanting out. Hope this works for you, as it has ALWAYS worked for me.
