I have 5 week old puppies, and want to know how many more weeks it will be until I will know what breeds they are going to be. Sad abuse story. DO NOT know who the father is at all. Mom died 31/2 weeks after giving birth. Mom had 3 types of hair.

You will have to wait until the puppies are full grown. A year old.

you won't know for awhile,,, MAKE SURE that all these pups get spayed and neutered....

Sometimes you can never really tell. You can usually tell what they are really going to look like around a 2-3 months old, but it doesn't mean that a specific breed will be obvious. All you can do is make your best guess and go from there. Ask a vet to help you make an educated guess, but unless you want to do genetic testing, you can't really know for sure. Sometimes even best guesses are dead wrong. Just inform people getting the puppies that they could be anything.

The chances of them being purebreds are slim to none. You cant tell what breed of dog they are or what they will look like until they are grown. Even purebreds change as they grow. When buying a purebred pup I have a basic idea of how they may look but, too many factors can and do arise that change over the growth of a dog. Purebred are more predictable but, mutts are not at all. Sorry about your sad story.
