My dog has had his shot knot since october?

he is a chihuahua minpin mix and i have had him since october, he got two shots in the same place and it irrated him and he pulled out the hair, now the hair is slightly growing back, has little hair strands, but is no where close to being fully covered.. is there anything i can do

and also

there is this little patch of hair that seems thinner

like you can see some of the skin if you stare closey for a while, i just wanted to know what this could be, maybe coat changing

My dog has had his shot knot since october?

check with vet or breeder. He may be allergic to alchol or to the vaccine. IT is too hard for me to tell. maybe change locations where his shot is given..maybe it is just anxiety

My dog has had his shot knot since october?

adverse vaccine reactions are common and some are more severe than others. there is a great yahoo group w/ informative archives at http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/Beyon...

vaccine reactions don't lend themselves to simple answers, i suggest you check into the beyond vax list.

did your vet file an adverse reaction report? lumps and hair loss after 6 months seems like an adverse reaction to me. be sure you know which vaccines caused the reaction and avoid those in the future.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I am kind of inactive but I have a pekingnese/poodle that loves me...I must be doing something right!!! The breed would have to like being inside, amongst people, love laps %26amp; be small enough for me to handle %26amp; tend not to bite!! I like brushing hair too!!!

Any suggestions???

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I would suggest adopting an older dog from a shelter. They tend to be more lap dogs. More quiet and calm. Good indoor/lap dog breeds would be pugs, rat terriers, papillions, miniature schnauzer, minature poodle. Good luck and I hope you find a great companion!!

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I think Vintage up there got it. I was trying to think of another breed, but Golden would be great. Or a Goldendoodle.

(not small, but great, obedient, and easy to train!)

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Bichon Frise, we had two of them, low matinence, and very loveable! They're the best

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I haven't had many small dogs. The only two that I had were a Yorkie mix and a cocker spaniel. Both were very loving dogs.

But, don't take my word for it. Go to your local shelter, let them know your situation. The should be able to help you find the right dog for you.

Edit: And to answer your questions, every type of dog out there has been in a shelter. So, yeah, small dogs will be in shelters. Either they were strays, turned over by owners that couldn't keep them, or rescued from a bad environment

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

A yorkie would be perfect for you. They're an indoor dog and so small! A mini one is only 4 lbs and they love to be brushed all the time and they don't bite. Good luck! =)

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Small dogs that have been poorly bred or spoiled to a point of being too spoiled can have a tendency to nip, but I don't think it's characteristic of any breed.

Most small breeds were originally bred as pets or lap dogs, so I really think that almost any breed would be appropriate for you. I'd recommend that you either get an older dog (from a shelter or private party) that you know has a good temperament or get a puppy from a good breeder where you can meet the parents and talk to the breeder.

Small breeds with groomable hair include: Poodles, longhair Chihuahuas, Maltese, Havanese, Lowchen, Yorkshire Terriers, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, English Toy Spaniel (aka King Charles Spaniel)... There's more, but those I could think of off the top of my head.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I am also disabled and have 2 Pomeranians. I spend most of my time inside due to my illness and I have found that Pomeranians are great indoor pets. Like you, I enjoy brushing my dogs, so grooming them and never been a problem for me.

ADD:

Small dogs do end up in shelters. Some of the reasons are the owner passed away, moved to an apartment, can no longer afford a pet or training problems.

Small dogs go VERY fast. I was on a list at the shelter for over a year waiting for a small dog. I decided to go to a breeder. It could have been years! I live in a small town, so the turnover is very slow. You might have quicker/better results in a larger city.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

It doesn't have to be a full blood breed. I would check the SPCA or the humane society there are many mixed breed dogs that would be wonderful and loving.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Bichon Frise...happy-go-lucky dogs, LOVE ppl, love being the ultimate lap dog, very affectionate and grooming is a must so you'd get to brush to your hearts content. they aren't "tiny" dogs...but they aren't HUGE either, perfect sized dog for your needs, great personality for your needs, and loves other ppl and pets.

EDIT:

ahh some haters up in here thumbs downing i see..LOL how stupid.

anyway...answer to your added question...YES small dogs DO end up in shelters. i have volunteered at my local SPCA for YEARS..MANY small dogs come in and out of the shelter system. some get adopted, some don't.

30% of the shelter population are made up of PUREBRED dogs...something to think about.

matter of fact...i found my sweet little dog Peggy Sue at a kill shelter. her owners brought her in and gave her up...ppl are cruel.

i was VERY upset about her being in the kill shelter because she was SO sweet. BUT the SPCA that i volunteer w/had already saved as many dogs as they were allowed for that week, and most "owner turn ins" only get 3 days before they are put down.

My husband knew how upset i was about it...and being the sweet man that he is, he snuck down to the kill shelter and adopted her on our anniversary! that was 4 yrs ago..she was 2 yrs old when we adopted her...she is just a sweetheart, loves our kids and other dogs...and well everybody really.

she's a chihuahua/dachshund mix. and since she was already spayed when we adopted her, her adoption fee was only $4!!

all my dogs are shelter dogs...2 are purebreds, 2 are mutts.

you'd be surprised what you can find in a shelter.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

If you are blind a golden retriever would be good

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I have and raise the mix of pom/maltese. They would be perfect for your situation. They would love to sit in anyones lap all day. They do need brushing, and are under 12 pounds. All mine are litter trained and the puppies too. I have one little girl that will only go outside for any reason, if we make her. She just prefers the inside, lol. The poms and maltese that i have and the mix, are just so friendly.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

well if u go with a little bet bigger dog like a lab u would be better, like a black lab mix, they r really healthy and love to be around people

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Mini longhair dachshund...?

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Your question was vague in details because there is all kinds of disabilities and you didn't mention what you have or your limitations...from there you could pick a appriopriate breed. Feel free to email me with more details.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Chihuahuas make great service dogs. They can help you pick up things etc. I know someone who has a service chi who lets her know just before she has a seizure so she can sit down and be prepared and not just collapse onto the floor. They are very smart, very aware little dogs. My chi automatically became a seeing eyed dog for my older Toy Poodle who went blind. He would nudge him away from walking into stone walls etc in our garden.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I am disabled and when my husband died, I got left with our black lab so I know you should not go there. Rocky just turned 6 and still is like a hyper puppy.I still love my devil dog! good luck!

Best Choice: Golden Retriever

Golden retrievers are a great and fun dog to have for any household. They are full of life and energy and will bring a lot of fun to your life. Their temperament is perfect for the average family that has children living in it or for someone that is on their own. No matter who is in need of a dog, the Golden Retriever is perfect for your life.

Golden retrievers are fun loving dogs that you can have a great deal of fun with. You can play with them and let them run and jump around the yard or house. You can have a good game of catch with them and watch as they run after the ball each time your throw it. They will playfully run to the ball and bring it back to you each time.

Golden retrievers are well known for their affection. They are dogs that need and want to have love and attention from their owners as well as anyone else that will pay mind to them. They like to surround themselves with people that are going socialize with them and give them attention.

Families that have children will get so much pleasure from a golden retriever joining their home. The children will find that the dog is so gentle and willing to have fun with them. They will be able to feel comfortable around the dog as well as the parents can feel safe and secure knowing that they have a good and well behaved dog as their family pet.

Most of the golden retrievers are going to be great companions for just about anyone that is lonely. They will make up for the lost friendship or relationship that is missing from someone閳ユ獨 life. If there is someone that is in need of a friend, getting a golden retriever may be the perfect present to get for him or her. This is a dog that will require little maintenance except for continuous love and attention.

Golden retriever閳ユ獨 intelligence is one of the reasons why they are so great to have around. They have the sense to know when or what they should be doing and sort of have common sense to tell them if they should or should not be doing something. This is another reason why they also make great assistance dogs for the disabled.

Many people think of their golden retriever as a good therapy dog. They will find the time that the spend with their dog as a good form of treatment for when they are not feeling well or have emotional problems that are hard to deal with. A golden retriever is a great way to bring joy into someone閳ユ獨 life again. You will not find another dog to have the same great attitude as the golden retriever does.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

I strongly recommend the Golden Retriever. They are such beautiful dogs, loyal companions, friendly, and lovable. They match all of your criteria and are wonderful for anyone.

You won't regret getting a golden retriever!

Hope that helps you out! [:

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

A cocka-poo. Good mix and still a small breed.... They love to be lap dogs, love to be loved, and love to be inside. Plus their hair can get long enough for you to brush.

But ultimately there are alot of small breeds that would fit your situation perfectly.... Look up some dog breed websites and read about all different small breeds, and narrow it down to something that you think would be right for u.

I'm disabled, what dog should I get???

Golden Doodle or a bichon frise.

Will it hurt my dog if he licks the GentaVed Topical Spray I have to use on him?

He licked all the hair off a spot on his tail, and now I'm using this spray, and need to know.

Thanks

Will it hurt my dog if he licks the GentaVed Topical Spray I have to use on him?

im not fimilar with the product but i cant be all safe i hope i helped

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

My husband and i love our 2 beagles so much, but now that im pregnant with our first child, i dont know if i want to keep them. I keep thinking about the dog hair everywhere (and i feel as if i constantly clean it up but it just keeps coming back) and my little baby crawling on it!! Any suggestions or words of advise?? I cant put them outside because they have been indoors since they were little.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

Our beagle is our daughter's best friend. They love each other so much. As long as you vacuum often enough and don't leave them alone in a room together without supervision, everything will be fine. The only problem we have now is that they love to play together and sometimes the dog knocks my daughter down b/c she jumps a lot. But, she gets a firm talking to and behaves herself after that. Our beagle has never hurt our daughter.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

We have a big dog, a lab. And, YES, she sheds like crazy. Noah is 9mths now and the dog is his best friend. She provides endless entertainment to our little one. She constantly puts a smile on his face :) Don't worry about the dog hair, vacuum as often as possible. No big deal.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

Teach your dogs not to be on the furniture. When you put the baby on the floor, put him/her on a blanket. You've raised the dogs since they were pups, it would be wrong to shoo them away b/c you are having a baby. Taking your dogs out doors to brush them will help eliminate some of the extra hair that they shed. The dogs are part of your family.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

I know exactly what you mean, i was in the same situation. Im from norway and so is my dog, it took me two years to get him over to the UK and just as he was ready to come over, we discovered i was pregnant..needless to say that i was very confused and had no idea what to do. I missed my dog and love him very much but now i started having all these worries..hair, dogfood, mucky paws, flees and the obvious thing, is he going to get jealous and will my baby be safe? My dog has always been calm, relaxed and happy and gets on well with children so i didn't really think it was an issue (he's a jack russell)

So we decided to fly him over after all and was pretty positive it would work out and it did until the day my daughter was born..he never gets the attention, exercise, playtime and love he used to get and deserves, i constantly get frustrated about dog hair everywhere, worried about what my daughter will pick up fromm the floor after him now that she's about to crawl and always get angry with him when he wakes her up by running on the wooden floor etc...our three times a day long fun walks have changed to to quick chore-walks and it's always my partner that takes him out (we live in a flat so no garden). This is obvioulsy not my dog's fault and he doesn;t deserve it so we have decided to give him to a nice couple without children just because he is now unhappy and we can't see things changing soon as we're now expecting another baby..hate that we have to do it but it is for the best for him

Sorry, this is probably not what you wanted to hear but this was our situation and yours may be different so hope you can work something out that is good for all

Good luck x

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

We have a black lab and he sheds ALOT. Right now my daughter is only 12 weeks old and not crawling yet. When I am on the floor with her I always lay a blanket down. I vacuum atleast once a day.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

Please don't get rid of your beagles. They might end up in a shelter and be euthanized. I have a beagle, too, and she brings so much joy to my life. If these beagles have been with you since they were puppies, they are part of your family, too.

My beagle is an "outside dog" because my family does not want dogs inside the house. I had no choice but to agree to that because I wanted this beagle so much. I bought her the best dog house I could afford, I keep it clean every single day, I sweep her dog hair off the garage floor, I pick up after her so as not to give my family any reason to complain. I do what I have to do to keep her in the family and in my life.

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

We have two dogs and a very fur-laden baby who loves them (and vice versa). The hair is a pain in the neck, but a love of animals is an important thing for me to foster in him. And studies show that babies exposed to hair and dander earlier have less allergies later in life than babies not exposed. So that is a positive too!

Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

I know how your feeling. . . I have a 75lb weimaraner and hes a HUGE pain in the ***! He's a ton of work, not to mention I worried about the baby and how they would get along. Well our son is now 17 months old and Duke (the dog) is his best friend. When he wakes up in the morning the first thing he says is "duka-duke". My son crawls all over him, hugs him, and duke licks him back, but they are best buddies, and I think Tyler really enjoys having him around. So I'm glad we didn't give him away, bc he makes our son happy. . . . he's like a giant teddy bear to him. Its also nice b/c our son is definitely not afraid of dogs since he's being raised with one.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

Weve built them a large dog house, put invisible fence wire down around the places we don't want them to dig, inside our privacy fence. We will still bring them in, in the evenings to sleep with us and spend time, but during daylight hours, we'd like them to spend more time outside. They (there's 4, two huskies and two mutts) are used to spending all day inside with me, but with a baby on the way, we'd like to keep the dog hair to a minimum. They all shed terribly bad (I burn out a vaccuum every 4- 6 months) and tend to get rowdy in the house. Most of this was fine (minus the rowdiness), until we found out the chances of the baby being asthmatic are in the high 90's.

In order to keep the house mostly hair free and safe for baby, this is the only alternative short of getting rid of them, which my husband and Idont want to do. When we let them out longer than potty time, they herd around the door or tear at the glass.

Any suggestions on how to keep them happy and safe out there?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

Get yourself a Dyson Pet vacuum - It'll be the best $500 you've ever spent.

As far as keeping them outside, do you live somewhere warm like Florida? Build a large dog run for them within the yard (You can get great 6x6 chain link panels at Home Depot that you clamp together - They have a door panel too).

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

Maybe some stuffed Kongs or a pool if they like them and the weather is good (you can get a plastic one for less than $10 at Wal-Mart). Also, try this stuff. I use it with my shepherds and they only shed when I take them off it so they can blow coat (you MUST take them off and allow them to blow coat once or twice a year depending on how often/when they would do it in your area). http://www.inflightcoatformula.com/ FYI I am not a distributor and I won't be paid for getting you to buy this. I just think it works really well and enjoy not having dog hair all over all the time. It brings coats in really full and thick but slows/stops excessive shedding. Takes very little to work and is easy to mix right into the dog's food.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

BE CAREFUL!!! Some animal rights activist who thinks dogs are 4 legged furry people will get you r account deleted if you say you want to keep your dog outside...

My account will probably get deleted (reported FOR SURE) for suggesting you build a really LARGE dog house so they cn all fit inside and keep warm toghether because they are pack ANIMALS, (NOT humans).

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

your not going to like my answer at all!

But have you thought about maybe rehoming 3 of them or maybe all 4,your already stressing %26amp; your baby isnt here yet.

The baby is going to take up so much of your time i found it hard with one dog never mind four.Im not saying people with kids shoulnt have 4 dogs but already there getting chucked outside to make the house more pleasent for the baby.

Think about it very carefully,At the moment youve got to think whats best for your dogs.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get my inside dogs to stay outside during the day?

They used to have both the house and the yard to live in and now their home has shrunk considerably especially if the yard is small. They are probably bored and upset by this negative turn of events so it will help to make the outside much more fun than the inside ever was.

I would leave all the best things for outside including food, treats, toys, time with the family, etc. You might even drive the point home by making the inside a place for baths, grooming, nail clipping and the like.

I would also increase their time walking in the neighborhood, going to parks, etc. even after the baby comes (you may have to hire some walkers) comes so they do not feel like things have gotten worse.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

I was just wondering if anyone cuts their own dogs hair at all and did it work out ok? My dog has curly fur and gets very hot very quickly and the salon charges at least 鎷?3 a time. Would it best to do a grooming course to learn properly?

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

I bought a dog shaving kit from argos it comes with video, my little dog had really thick wild hair so I used to shave it off in summer, takes awhile but she didnt seem to mind kept having breaks and giving her treats she looked so cute when she had bin done. So yeah give it a go you cant really do it wrong with a shaver because you set the length you want and thats it.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

If he's used to the noise of the clippers, it should be straightforwards to cut - but to get it looking tidy just takes practice! The first few times you do it he'll have 'scissor marks' which are like straight lines. If you can put up with that just do it yourself. If it would bother you then do a course.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

The secret to a good doggy haircut is in the equipment they use, and that's quite expensive, hence the 鎷?3. I've tried doing my own dog with an electric trimmer intended for humans and it was not a pretty sight, but he didn't care and was much cooler. Depends how fussy your dog is.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

i have two dogs the female i cut /trim with scissors and a comb i always make sure the comb is between her skin and the scissors, and she is generally happy to sit there and allow me to do this. The male gets pretty aggressive and wont let me snip and comb the hair around certain areas, nor sit still for much, so i get out the hair clippers and he gets kinda scared of em, so it stops him trying to bite me, and i jsut shave him the best i can for the summer.

You should attempt to do it yourself, if you find you have one of them dogs who wont sit still and its just too much of a drama for you then send em to the salon.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

It's a heck of a lot cheeper (FREE ) to do it yourself , and the dog doesn't care what he / she looks like , other wise they wouldn't lick their own a$$ in public ! As long as you don't cut or stick them , you will do fine !

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

If you want your dog to look nice, Invest the money and go to the groomer !Meanwhile between goomers, learn how to trim your dog by paying for the course.Dont make him look bad,he /she likes to look good also !

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

We have a cocker with long hair and we cut it ourselves all the time. It's just so much easier, you need two people, one to hold her and talk to her and the other to chop and just do little bits at a time and you'll be fine.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

if you have the know how and pet likes your grooming fine, if they take a fit it is best for groomer.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

It depends if you are fussy about what your dog looks like - as he/she wont care. I used to cut my dogs hair (when he was alive). He was curly too, and it turned out fine. Just dont take too long over it or the dog will get bored and restless and thats when you can accidently cut them. Give it a go - then you can spend the money you save on nice treats for you and doggie !

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

yes it's easy, but the dog will look like **** when you're finished and he won't thank you for it when he can't get any action

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

Same as we have to pay for our Pappilion, the wife get scissors out and tidy`s her up but after awhile it`s of to the parlour with her, coming home, when finished she smell

lovely with the pink ribbon round her neck, this happens four or five times a year so ime afraid there is no easy way unless

you want your dog to luck like nobody owns it.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

dog do not sweat like people do. so they do not get hot like we do. so cutting the hair will not make them cooler. just easier to take care of. the only dogs who do sweat are the chinese chrested or the other no hair dogs. grooming a dog is not as easy as it looks. that is why most people take there dog to a groomer.

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

taking a class would be a great idea -

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

Get a shorthaired dog :-D

Is it easy to cut your own dogs fur rather that go to a salon?

I would have to say that if you are willing to put in the extra time it is definitely worth doing it yourself. I wouldn't think that you would need to so to school just to cut your own dogs fur. Practice makes perfect. I have 2 St. Poodles myself and I groom them myself and learned the technique from a DVD How to groom your dog. $60 x 2 every 6 weeks was just too expensive for me and I have saved lots of money and several funny haircuts latter I throughly enjoy doing it now. Good Luck!

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

I asked this question and got accused of being racist. Just as a disclaimer, it was not meant to be racist. As a matter of fact, I worded is rather carefully just so that it would not come off as being racist as I said that the main people I've noticed who do this are White. People get so paranoid when you name color, but did it ever occur to you people that certain cultures do things differently from others? I was making an observation and from what I've seen most other people of color (minorities in general) find it appalling that some people wash their dogs in the bathtub. It is true that the tub can be cleaned, however, it's not just the bacteria and filth, but dog hair has a tendency to

seriously clog a drain. So again, I find it unwise in more ways than one. So why do people do this? Is it a cultural issue because let's face it, the only one's that I've heard of doing this are White. It's not racist if it's true. :-\

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

its grossssssssE!

i know

but they luv their dogs

U guys answer my question i've been asking this forever! :(

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Where do people of non-Caucasian persuasion bathe their dogs?

p.s. this was a dumb question the first time you asked it

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

It's bordering on racist to me.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

1. I dont have a laundry tub*

*(Even if I did my Shepherd weighs 90 lbs.)

2. Its 11 degrees outside right now

3. I dont trust groomers

4. Why pay a groomer for something I can do myself?

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

i washed my cat in the bathtub once lol, it doesn't matter its easy to disinfect the bath and its a great source of warm water the question is why not!

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Some people have tubs, some don't. If I had a dog and a tub, I might do the same.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

i bathe mine in the kitchen sink....because she is so little, but if she was a big dog...I would put her in the Bath tub....

Why wash her up outside, she's just bound to get dirty again....

Its called bleach, and pine sol people...You dont take a bath in the tub right after your pup....get alife....

*edit* im not white

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

uhmm... because its easier.... and ..... they don't get water every where

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Well some people's communities are apalling too , they need to clean up their acts

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

some people are a little dim

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Dogs are easier to contain in a smaller place that's all. It is filthy I agree! And in the winter you can't wash them outside.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

The people I know, black or white, or wash their dogs in the tub do it because they don't have yards or hoses. They live in apartments.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

I have a dog and a cat and I've never used the bath tub or its sorroundings for those purposes. My dogs takes his bath outside the house, so does the cat.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Human hair has a tendency to clog the drains, as well. It's not like the dog is the only culprit when a drain gets clogged.

The bath-tub is convenient, especially during the colder months, where you don't want to risk the dog getting ill from bathing them outdoors.

It's quick, it's simple, and you don't have to worry about your dog rolling in the dirt directly after the bath, since they'll be indoors already.

You also have control over the temperature of the water, unlike if you were to use a waterhose.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

i think your getting a bit hung on the racist thing...keep going about that a BIT. anyway, they do it because dogs don't like baths, and thats the easiest way of keeping them in one pace long enough to wash them.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

My auntie does it :| Its pretty strange!

But she loves her dog! On her Christmas card, she even puts the dogs name on it aswell! Haha

Why is it racist?

And, yeah shes white

:)

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

How is this a racist question to begin with or have anythign to do with race? im white, live in a 5 bedroom 3 bath house and we wash our dog in spare bath which a cleaned weekly by the cleaning lady, whos black ... if not right after his bath.

It was her suggestion to bathe him there and was a good idea!

Why shouldnt my dog be pampered in his own tub inside? He also loves to play and get baths with the hose in the back yard when hes extra dirty!

Or the groomers!

My long blonde hair clogs the drain too! Should I bathe outside?? LOL

Thats not a racist thing and how silly to think so!

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

I wash my dog in the bathtub, (we have 3 in my house and nobody uses that one), because he's too big to fit in a sink like I did when he was a puppy. Also, washing him outside is totally out of the question because I live in the north of Scotland and he'd basically freeze to death.

I've never had any problem with clogged drains, and obviously I wash the bath afterwards.

I've never really noticed the whole race thing though..... I'm white btw.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

because she's too big for the sink and when its cold outside I don't want to put her in the tin tub not only that, she'll splash all the water out of the tin one. In the summer/spring I do it outside but winter in the tub. Also, I have a screen over my drain so it collects hair and what not so it don't clog it.

Why is this racist, I didn't know there were people of a different race called "dog". Some men are called dogs, but thats not racist that sexist. Hmmm, some people, I tell ya.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

I agree different races have different ways of doing things, and do not consider you racist for making the statement. Then again I have better things to do with my time then read into a question on yahoo answers and get all flippy.

I do bath my dog in the tub. I clean it with comet and have a drain that stops the hair from clogging. My dog however weighs 25 lbs and is easy to bath in my tub. I made the mistake of bathing my sisters lab in the tub once and it clogged the drain big time.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

I bathe my dog in the tub because i can use my sprayer, the water is warm and i have a thing in the drain that catches the hair. I don't fill the tub up with water, just spray her, shampoo her and rinse her off. She's a small dog, so it really isn't a big deal. Human hair goes down the drain also, and people are also dirty and have bacteria, so to me there is no difference.

Kim at: http://www.peaceful-organic-planet.com/n...

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

If you're naming a certain group of people you are indeed being racist.

That's me playing the race card.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

why do most minorities go to dog fights.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

human hair clogs drains too and you bathe in it. where else would you bathe the dog in the winter, outside? thats cruel! if the drain gets clogged then you take it off and get the hair out to unclog it. SIMPLE!

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

You're so right, different cultures have different ways of doing things! Nothing racist at all in that comment. This is a new one to me. I thought EVERYONE bathed their dogs in the tub. My dog passed away 6 months ago and we usually took him to a groomer to be cleaned but I know on the rare occassions we did bathe him we did it in the tub. (and yes, I'm white!) It was a matter of practicality though. Our preference on warm days would be outside with the garden hose but he was a big dog and nearly impossible to keep still so he could be washed. We did the tub thing so he could be kept under control and he was too big to clean in the sink. And yah, we had to clean out the drain on those rare occassions we washed him in the tub. He was a long-haired American Eskimo. LOL!

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Um... I'm not sure if you're being serious... but I have only multi-cultural friends. I am involved in diversity training and things like that...

All that to say - all my friends who have dogs bathe them in the tub. The represented ethnicities are Caucasian, African American, Asian, Middle-Eastern, Indian and African.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Where would you suggest people bathe their dogs? especially big dogs?

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Where do you bathe a dog? I live in the pacific northwest and my dog would freeze her you know what off if I bathed her anywhere but the tub. When I am done with my shower, my hubby puts her in with me. I have a hose on my shower head and use it to bathe her in nice warm water and she loves it. She is a small breed but even if I had a large dog, I would do it the same way.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Because the dish washer is full.

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

bc they want flees too. lol for real idk

Why Do Some People Bathe Their Dogs in the Bathroom Tub?

Most people are 2 lazy 2 juz ake to a dog care center where they can do all that for you.

How much for a dog?

I want a girl chihuahua long hair and 8 weeks old.How much does one cost?

How much for a dog?

It depends were you buy it from. you could get a rescue dog but they might not be exact to your specification of being 8 weeks old. an average price range could be from aroung 鎷?0-鎷?00. Just make sure you buy your dog from a reliable breeder.

How much for a dog?

depends try petfinder.com or a shelter plz =]

How much for a dog?

i would guess around 200-300 dollars if you bought it from a breeder.

How much for a dog?

alot some run up to 1000 dollars

so if i were u check on petfinder.com

How much for a dog?

500-2000

500 for a normal one

2000 for a teacup or mini teacup

How much for a dog?

no clue

How much for a dog?

Well, one of my friends told me that they got there dog for 70 dollars.

How much for a dog?

It depends on the breeder and where they are located. I would say they start at $700+.

Find a breeder who breeds to better the breed and tries to work on health issues. One that also checks for health conditions.

How much for a dog?

Look on the net or ask around there is probably one around somewhere.

How much for a dog?

I wouldn't invest one penny in a Dog until I have vested plenty of time to learn as much as needed in what it will take in time, money, and, care to have a dog regardless of the breed or cost of the dog.

A $15,000.00 trained German Shepherd Guard Dog isn't worth a dime if it's owner hasn't prepared themselves for ownership.

I'm sure if we could ask dogs how much they expect from an owner/master and what they seek.......would you measure up?

I'm not posting this to be a "Wise Guy", but, too often people are focused on getting a dog well before they have grasped what it takes to own a dog.

There is a big difference in having a Dog and being a Dog Owner.

I hope you are prepared for ownership, and, then I would be sure that regardless of what kind of dog you get regardless of what it costs will be a wonderful fit for you.

I'm just a conscientious dog owner and pro-dog in regards to their well beings. Just want to emphasize that having a wonderful dog experience and sharing your life with them depends more on you than them.

I wish you the best, and hope you get a great dog!

How much for a dog?

depends on who you buy from, where, and the quality of the dog.

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance

It's been almost 3 months. Part of our frustration in keeping our house listed is our dogs are kenneled to preserve the new lanscaping, floors, etc. If we bring them home and keep them groomed and then confined or out of the house when people are looking do you think it would ruin our chances of selling if we brought them home? I miss them so much! Also--it's $900 p/m to kennel them and we are going into debt to keep them somewhere else. to keep our home in pristine condition.

If we bring them home would it reduce our showings if we asked for extra notice to clean any dog hair and arrange kenneling them for a couple of hours at the dog kennel? We'd be changing the showing instructions from "call and show" to "by apt. only".

Help! I want my life back to some degree. I am pregnant and have a toddler--I work and have a husband with a long commute so I have to do the cleaning, etc.. myself because I telecommute for the most part. Any life balance suggestions?

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance as seller

I'd bring them home, too. But don't let them run amok in the house and yard so the improvements need improved again.

In my area, it is actually fairly rare to show a house that doesn't have pets.

There is an inexpensive product called Aller-Pet that you can brush on your dogs that keeps the dander down if you are concerned about the allergy issue. I'm sure you can find it online at a pet supply website.

Just try to keep everything nice. I hope you sell it!

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance as seller

This is so tough. I am a dog owner too so I understand. The problem is that some people are violently allergic to animal dander and no matter how clean you keep the dogs, it might still bother them and keep them from offering on your home.

Still, there are other buyers who wouldn't give a darn. We sold our last home to a Vet so it didn't bother her at all.

Have a heart to heart with your Realtor. You are incurring a mojor expense here. Is it worth it considering your local market? Only your Realtor can tell you.

Good luck. (I hope you get your pups back soon, I'd be lost without mine.)

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance as seller

Can someone keep the dogs for you

anyone,anyone .

Pay them ,it is better then a kennel

Look you are with child ,you don't need this ( congratulations)

If all else fails bring the dogs home, whats a home without dogs.If people really want to buy your home they will with or without the dogs

The answer lies in your heart

Is your garage air-conditioned? If so, that is a possible compromise.

Our house is on the market and our dogs have been kenneled--is it ok to bring them home?Life balance as seller

We have a 90 pound black lab and our house has been on the market for two weeks so far and we just got an offer today. We just make sure he's not home when people are looking at the house. I just vacuum and clean the house every day before work to make sure it smells good and there's no hair everywhere. I couldn't imagine kenneling my doggy for so long! Bring them home! :)

I think that my dog is pregnant because she is starting to get really big and her bottom teats are s

Also she seems to be pulling hair from around her vaginal spot. Plus she seems so miserable.

I think that my dog is pregnant because she is starting to get really big and her bottom teats are swelling.?

Sounds pregnant....

But she doesn't have 2-3 months left, as a dog's gestation period only lasts 2 (9-10 weeks) months total.

She probably has somewhere between 1-3 weeks left.

Take care of those pups!

I think that my dog is pregnant because she is starting to get really big and her bottom teats are swelling.?

She is pregnant!

I think that my dog is pregnant because she is starting to get really big and her bottom teats are swelling.?

I have often thought my dog is pregnant but found out she is not. My dogs teats grew really big but it was just a stage of her growing up. It could be a false pregnancy as they are quite common. The dog herself would think she was pregnant but wouldn't be. She is miserable so it is best to take her to the vet. It could be a number of things, still not ruling out pregnancy. When was it when she mated? Work out how long it has been and see if the stage she is at sounds right to how she looks. The bitches gestation period is exactly nine weeks. Small breed dogs will start getting bigger around 5 weeks. With bigger breed dogs sometime they don't show much until the 6-7 week. Other signs are increased interest in food and water, tummy that is pushed against ribs, lying around more, and possible increase in urinating due to the enlarging uterus that is squishing the bladder. Other signs that the time is near are restlessness, and "nest making. Pregnant dogs and puppies are an extremely large responsibility so be as prepared as possible. Good luck!

I think that my dog is pregnant because she is starting to get really big and her bottom teats are swelling.?

There is no guarantee her being pregnant based on the fact her teats are swelling. Getting big can be a sign which you can easily find out by rubbing the tummy and feeling for kicks. If you cannot remember exactly when she had her last season, it is safe to assume that if she is pregnant, her appetite will increase quite considerably and she may display unusual behaviours, like looking for nesting ground. She probably is 6 weeks into the pregnancy which should make it easier for you to tell by testing her belly. The depression is an entirely different symptom. Dogs can get depressed with the change of the season and one can add St. John's Wort into the diet. K9 Hilton Herbs do an excellent winter variety.

If she is restless, try and get some alternative valerian or rescue remedy which drops you can add to her water. This is a harmless flower remedy without side affects. The pulling of hair from her ******** is entirely new to me. Never seen that with any of my b*tches, who were about to drop a litter.

Something may be wrong with her and obviously the usual suggestion of a trip to the vet may provide that which you need to know. You can try some Aloe Vera Gel in case it is just an innocent itch of a kind.

BTW it may help to make an extra fuss of her as she seems to be a little confused. There could be many reasons for this of course. TLC usually goes a long way.

How does mange start in dogs? How is it treated? Is Mange a parasite?

Either my dog has mange or he is really shedding badly. If shedding is the issue then I can easily brush him and care for him but mange, I heard that is can take all the dogs hair of of them. What can I do to properly home treat my dog if he has mange? Is mange contagious to humans? Sorry for the stupid nieve questions. Just need to know answers right now. Am a Concerned pet owner. I know my next option would take him the the animal hospital. Any one with good, positive, influential, informative, and detailed answers, gets chosen and given the ten points. Thanks so much.

How does mange start in dogs? How is it treated? Is Mange a parasite?

There are 2 types of mange dogs get, Demodectic - which is not contagious to humans, and Sarcoptic - which is contagious to humans (causes Scabies). Both are caused by microscopic parasites in the skin. The only way to treat either, or know for sure which one it is, is to go to your vet. They will do a skin scraping and look at it under a microscope, and then give you the appropriate medication. Good luck

Pulling my hair out looking for this thing. Anyone care to stop the insanity?

I had this perfect gif thing for my myspace and lost it. It was a dog tag with rhinestones around it and it said future Mrs. on it. Anyone know where I can find it again? I really loved it so I would really love to find it again. You would be so great if you find it, but you are great for even helping me look :)

Pulling my hair out looking for this thing. Anyone care to stop the insanity?

I have looked at all the places I get graphics for myspace, but didn't find what you were asking for sorry. There is one place that I looked for awhile but it has so much I got tired of looking and so I will give you the address and you can check it out if you wish.

SORRY but I don't know where you could have put it maybe in your purse? If I figure out where you can buy another I'll let you know...

Pulling my hair out looking for this thing. Anyone care to stop the insanity?

Hi, good morning, you still remember me?

You sent me a message yesterday showing your concerns about me, and i really appreciated that. Thank you.

I got so much better today, i even want to go to the library to study. :)

I tried to reply to your message but i couldn't, because your IM service was blocked by you. If you want to share, why don't you make it unblocked? Apparently I wouldn't recover so quickly if i let it blocked too, because if i did that, i wouldn't had received your message.

Like you said, "Be strong!" Sincerely hope you can recover quickly too. Best of luck to you! :)

Allergic to dogs?

I just bought a dog and my siblings seem to be allergic, they get itchy on their arms and legs and becomes red, they have to shower and soap it in order to stop. is their like any medicine that will help with dog hair allergy or like anything that will prevent them from being allergic?

Allergic to dogs?

Usually when people have allergic reactions to dogs, they are allergic to the dog's dander. There are shampoos you can use that will help with the problem.

Check out the link below.

Allergic to dogs?

ask your doctor

Allergic to dogs?

They need to be seen by an allergist to determine if it's truly a dog allergy. The allergist can prescribe whatever meds that they'll need. Or they can take Zyrtec, or any other allergy medicine that's OTC.

Allergic to dogs?

well is it is the dog itll be its fur.

if you still want a dog without fur there are some dogs with wool believe it or not

maybe try that????

sorry im not helpful :(

Allergic to dogs?

LOCAL honey will cure pet allergies. Take a teaspoon a day and your body will react to the local honey and develop immunity. It will also cure allergic reactions to dust, mold, mildew, smog and pollen. As you progress with the local honey, you will notice that you don't get cold and flu symptoms as well as feeling, overall, more healthy.

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

I have a Pomeranian who is possibly pregnant (by our male pom) . She would be due in 2 1/2 weeks, but isn't obviously pregnant (as far as size). She may have gained some weight, but with all that hair it's hard to say. Her nipples (near her hind legs) seem like they are filling out, but the others seem fairly flat. Her stomach does feel pretty firm/tight. Would she be showing more obviously by now if she were pregnant (she'd be 2 days shy of 7 weeks)? Or could it be a small litter?

Please...no comments on how they should be spayed/neutered or how aweful I am. All of her puppies (if there are any) will have a loving home with us. She is well cared for and I have delivered puppies before. Serious answers only please. Thanks you!

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

Poms are so petite, their "litters" may be 1-3 max in my experience. Their gestation period is about 63 days plus/minus, but pups are so tiny it may be difficult to know for certain. Vet can do palpation on her abdomen and perhaps tell or, a quick ultra-sound can let you know if she is and how many pups as well. Good luck.

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

Now

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

by now it is pregant it might be a smaller litter because they are pretty small dogs

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

it will start showing like in the first month

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

u will b able 2 tell because they will start panting

A LOT!!!!

When will a pregnant dog start showing?

It is possible that she has a very small litter (one or two pups) and isn't showing much. It's also possible that she's having a false pregnancy which can show all of the signs other than getting big. From personnal experience and a solid week of staying up every night, I suggest going on to the vet and find out for sure. We always have ours checked about half way through, but a few months ago, we had an unfortunate incident with a car that ran a stop sign and slammed us, the night before our appointment for her xray. This caused us to be unable to go, until it was close to her due date, so I just decided to watch her closely. Mistake.Mistake.Mistake. I dealt with the appearance of onset of labor for days and days with all signs (digging, temp drop, milk, licking, mucus drainage and so on),,,,,but no real labor. We finally did suck it up and go on to the vet, and of course no puppies. Never again will I push off the xray , if I have to drag my beaten body out the door into a taxi to get to the vet. Not having to worry and wonder from now until after her due date would be worth your 60 bucks.

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

I adopted this pretty girl (will be prettier after a visit to the groomer!) a few days ago, but I'm not sure what she is. I think she's a Schnorkie (Schnauzer %26amp; Yorkie mix), but it looks like most Schnorkies have longer hair. If you have any ideas, please share!

HERE IS THE LINK TO HER PICTURE: http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s184/...

Thanks!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Definately a Schnauzer mix. There could be some Yorkie too...

There is such as thing as a Schnorkie... it a designer dog... a Hybrid. :) Just like my Sheagle (Sheltie/Beagle)

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Yes there is such thing as a schnorkie!! it is a schnauzer yorkie cross!!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Looks like schnauzer and yorkie, she just has a schnauzer coat, not a longer silky one like a yorkie. she's a cutie!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

I think you are right - she looks like she has yorkie and schnauzer. She's beautiful!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

She does look like a Schnorkie. Some yorkies dont always have long hair. I've had a AKC yorkie and he was never sent to the groomer due to his short coat. That sounds wierd but one of his parents had a short coat and the other had a long coat. Also schnauzers dont normally have very long coats so it can be she inhertied more schnauzer. Its very possible she is mixed with something else because you dont know who the exact parents are so who knows her great great great great grandpa mightve been a lab for all we know!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

totally cute. part schnauzer, part yorkie.

just like a labradoodle or a terriranian.

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Yeah, she definitly looks like a Schnauzer and Yorkie mix! My mom has two mini schnauzers and her neighbor has a little yorkie.. your little girl looks like a mix of the two for sure. lol!.. Very cute dog! : )

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

She looks like she has inherited the Schnauzer genes. Her body structure is of the Schnauzer, but her markings are of the Yorkie. Depending on how old she is, she might still only have her puppy coat. When she matures her coat may get longer.

She is very cute.

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Schnauzer %26amp; Yorkie mix would be my best guess, that dog is definately a Schnauzer mix though! With any mixed breed dog you can never be sure what kind of traits of each breed it will pick up, especially with coats, its hard to judge when they are puppies.... it does appear your dog has more of a yorkie coat, so it may get longer as she gets older.

Very cute girl!

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

I have a snorkie. 9 months old and looks almost identical, but her hair has less gray. But, it's that short. She's a blast..Love her to death

. Good luck with your..Mine's named Annie!!

Karen

Schnorkie? What kind of dog is this?

Looks like a cute little mutt. :-) There's no such thing as a Schnorkie. Please don't feed the hype.

Edit: Oh for God's sake, people. I have three mixed breed dogs myself. I don't go around calling them an Ausky (Aussie/husky mix), a Huskweiler (Rottie/husky mix), or a Malinerd (Malinois/GSD mix). You people and your cutesy names need to get over yourself. There is nothing wrong with calling it a mutt if that's what it is. I'm an American mutt and proud of it. The more people enable these names, the more they encourage this intentional mixed breeding which serves no purpose at all except to overburden the already overly large homeless pet population.

What is the best dog breed to own?

I live in a town house and work all day but can come home for lunch and I'm usually back at home by 5pm. I want something with short hair that's not too yappy. Any suggestions?

What is the best dog breed to own?

Definitely a Boston Terrier....They are great companion dogs. They are short haired and not yappy at all. They are true couch potatoes and I've never seen a destructive Boston. A plus is you have 3 sizes from which to choose: light weight, medium weight and heavy weight.

If you don't like Bostons, French Bulldogs are also great apartment dogs. Generally they both have good dispositions.

Whatever breed you choose, make sure you do some research on that breed so you know the AKC standard. Also, purchase the puppy from a reliable breeder who loves their particular breed and doesn't just breed many breeds for bucks. A dog is a long investment.....you get what you pay for.

I don't breed dogs, but I've had both breeds as pets and several of my clients have them as well.

What is the best dog breed to own?

a chihuahua

What is the best dog breed to own?

labordoodle. all the fun pf a lab, without the shedding.

What is the best dog breed to own?

cockapoo (mutt)

What is the best dog breed to own?

i raise chihuahuas ..they are awesome house dogs../some of them can be a little yappy but if you get it while it is a puppy and train it that it stays home some by itself then it will be fine..i have had my baby chihuahua for six yearss he goes on vacation with me and everything.. i take him to hotels with no problems ..also they are not very hiper .....

What is the best dog breed to own?

I've always owned labs and cockers. I find they're both great dogs, neither are yappy. The cockers do require some grooming-brushing and clipping, whereas the labs are easier in that regard. They both live in the house and are great companions to one another. They both do like to chew, especially as pups, so make sure they have some toys, or you'll lose some shoes! I've never had trouble with either the labs or cockers barking when they're alone, either.

What is the best dog breed to own?

1st of all you might want to get 2 dogs, cause your leaving one alone all day is mean. hes going to get board and tear stuff up then youll get mad . a pair of yorkies would be good

What is the best dog breed to own?

Adopt one ...make it his/her day...who say it's a dog life...didn't live one...God bless!

What is the best dog breed to own?

get a geat dane. i know you're thinking a giant in a smaller house. they actually make pretty good apartment dogs because they are fairly laid back. they have large bladders so they can wait longer to go outside. people tend to refer to them as couch potatoes as they spend most of their time laying around sleeping. they do like to play but it's not constant. they are not yappers. they only bark when they feel that someone they don't know is trying to come into your house. they are very loving and a lot of fun to have. good luck with your search for the perfect dog.

What is the best dog breed to own?

um...a boston terrier or pug

yorki/poodel mix?

What is the best dog breed to own?

Check your local rescue. They care more about the animals than petstores or shelters and most breeders. They will want the pet to be the best fit so that it doesn't have to be returned and loose its home. Many rescued pets are kept in volunteers homes and they will know if that pet will work for your situation. In most cases you can even have them bring the pet to your house for an introduction before making a commitment. If this goes well you may even be able to get a week to have the pet in your home with out the foster to make sure it also works for the two of you.

And the most important if that pet doesn't work you don't have to feel guilty that they may euthanize the pet. Rescues are no kill and will find each pet its perfect home not just someplace to go and to make money.

What is the best dog breed to own?

First of all it is good to see a potential pet owner seeking advice before rushing out and buying/adopting the first cute little thing that steals their heart!!

I would say to stay away from really high energy dogs like Jack Russels, only because cooped up all day can result in some behavior problems. Pugs - at leat the ones I know are fairtly laid back, have short hair, and not really barky. just a suggestion though.

What is the best dog breed to own?

a Boston Terrier (I have one, soon to be 2)

www.bostonterrierclubofcanada.com

go to that link for some information about the breed.

whatever you do though, don't buy one from a pet store, you most likely will end up buying a dog that has a ton of medical problems. seek out a reputable breeder (i can help you locate one in your area, just e-mail me)

What is the best dog breed to own?

Go to a shelter, see who speaks to your heart. That is the best one to have. Those dogs are dying for a home.

What is the best dog breed to own?

a short haired mini dachshund. They are small and do not bark to much. THey are also cute and very smart.

What is the best dog breed to own?

Mutts are the best companions, I truly believe that the smaller the dog, the more loving!

I have a Min-pin/rat terrier, (you can see her in my Yahoo! 360) and she is the best dog I have ever had!

Yes, I have had full blooded, and mixed. And mixed are healthier, they have not been inbred as much!

loj

What is the best dog breed to own?

Consider adopting a retired racing greyhound. They are great dogs in small spaces as they are a very low-energy breed. At home they can sleep 18-20 hours per day and do very well in working homes as they will sleep while you are out and be up when you are home. They are perfectly happy getting all of their excersise from leash walking. No yapping here, it is very rare for greyhounds to bark. They are a single-coated short haired breed and their skin is not oily so they don't have that 'dog' smell. For more information on the breed, or to locate an adoption group in your area check out http://www.greyhoundpets.org

Neighbor with dogs very dirty and imposing with shared laundry facilities!?

A neighbor in my apartment building has taken over the whole place. He uses the spare office like it's his personal storage containers. (He's too cheap to pay for a storage container.) He complains and whines like a crabby old lady about every little thing you could possibly think of and then some! We just try and avoid the guy most of the time. The BIG problem: He has full size dogs and washes their bedding in the machines loaded with gobs of hair. It is disgusting to think about what is on my cloths. I run the washers with hot water and bleach first (which I pay extra for) but the dryers are the real problem. They don't get very hot and I'm sure they don't kill all the germs. My cloths are covered with dog hair even though I check the lint filters first. He has already been confronted by another neighbor and acted hurt and indignant. (He's a big baby!) The owner of the building won't do anything about it because he works for them. Moving out myself is not an option. HELP!

Neighbor with dogs very dirty and imposing with shared laundry facilities!?

There's nothing you can do. Find a Laundromat.

Neighbor with dogs very dirty and imposing with shared laundry facilities!?

ask the neighbour with the dogs if he could please rinse out the machine after he is done ...fake allergies to dog hair or something along those lines. talk to your other neighbours and as a group go and talk to the landlord and tell him things need to be changed like animal bedding shouldnt be allowed to be washed in the buildings machines. if things dont change i would suggest moving to a place that the landlord is for the people in the building. best of luck with this.

Neighbor with dogs very dirty and imposing with shared laundry facilities!?

Take your clothes to a laundromat off-site, if you cannot move that is your only option. Sorry.

I love dogs, but have my own house, with a washer and dryer, so, tough cookies if anyone does not like dog hair, they can stay out of my house.

Neighbor with dogs very dirty and imposing with shared laundry facilities!?

Try to be stoic! You are living communally, so you are subject to the conditions that occur when all are privy to the use of the grounds and equipment. Obviously many other tenants have dogs and small ones produce shed hair as well! And more than that---the things you don't see are more likely to disease you! You don't know what the "very prissy dressed and coif person" has in their clothing and bedding and towels! Or on their hands when they handle gym equipment and counters and washer dials! If you opt to go to a public laundromatt your going to get an even larger germ pool! Get a grip! We live in society! Library books and CD's you rent, anything used by others can be contaminated! The Air for Pete's sake! You live in a complex with others sharing the property, either put on a huge body rubber and carry anti viral spray, or just chill and take normal precautions. Good luck!

The manager has the right to evict him. Go to the manager with all the people who want him gone, list everything about him you don't like, including his dogs. Sign a petition if you think that will help. Call the cops if you think that will help. You should be able to have clean laundry. That's a good reason to have him evicted. Have the manager do her job. Good luck!!

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.

My boyfriend has 2 big indoor dogs. He has only bathed them once in the 11/2 yrs. i've know him. When they do got outside it's all dirt. I'd like him to put up a doggie gate to keep them out of the kitchen so it will stay clean of dog hair and dirt. When they are in the kitchen they lay right in the middle of the floor while you're cooking. He says I am not a dog lover. I say that I like a clean kitchen that I can walk in. What do you think? By the way before me he use to sleep with his dirty dogs. He says everyone he knows sleeps with their dogs. Is this a common practice with people that have indoor dogs. Years ago I did have a dog but she sayed outside in a BIG dog house with a grass yard. He thinks that it is cruel to keep a dog outside. What do you think about that?

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

Of course it's not mean. You're a human and they are essentially a wolf. They will go wherever you damn well tell them to go. And no it is not cruel to keep a dog outdoors either. So long as they have food, water, shelter and companionship, they're fine.

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

I don't think dogs belong outside, but ours are not allowed on beds or furniture (though sometimes our laps).

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

People are different. I do think that he should bathe his dogs about every 6 weeks. That is only good doggie hygiene. They must smell something awful. He should respect your desire for a clean kitchen and if he won't put up a gate then you go ahead and put one up.

And no not every dog lover sleeps with their dogs. I don't sleep with mine and I love them to death. They do live in the house with me, but go outside too and are bathed often. I think it is cruel to keep a dog exclusively outside. They are social creatures and need to be with people. What is the point in having one if it only stays outside?

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

Dogs are pack animals and when we decide to take a dog as a pet and family member they regard us as their pack. Hence they should be indoors not banished to a dog house in a I don't care how grassy a yard. Some people I know allow their dogs to sleep with them, some don't, it's a matter of preference for the owner and sometimes the dogs too. As for the kitchen, ask your boyfriend to try and keep the dogs out of the kitchen when you are cooking or cleaning in there. If that's all they do is lay in the middle of floor, how bad can it be? Your boyfriend's wrong, you're not a dog PERSON.

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

Dog house or not I think it's cruel to keep a dog outside permanently. My dog is inside but she is bathed twice a month and also groomed by the vet. But from what you are describing I wouldn't want those dogs in my kitchen either. Have you talked to him about bathing them or getting them groomed. I'm sure they must stink to high heaven which causes the house to stink. Being so unclean is also very unhealthy for the dogs. It's like us not washing our hair for a year talk about yuck! Talk to him tell him you like the dogs but you would like them even more if they were clean.

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

I think your boyfriend should get off his tush and wash his dogs! Those poor dogs are probably filthy!!! And no it is not mean to keep dogs out of the kitchen. If they are well trained as a puppy they will not go in the kitchen. I agree with you a clean kitchen is essential, and plus who wants to be tripping over dogs when your trying to cook. I have trained my dog to sit outside the kitchen and wait for me to be done, and I dont think that's much to ask at all. There is nothing in that room for her anyhow!

As for sleeping with dirty dogs in your bed... ew. But if the dogs were bathed then I would say it's all in your sleeping prefrences. My husband is a cat person, and allows the cats to be in the bed with him when he sleeps, but they sleep on his pillows and head so I could care less, as long as they leave my head and pillows alone! When my dachshund was younger I would allow her to sleep on the bed with my as long as she stayed at the foot of the bed (and I wash my dog quite a bit so it was sanitary) but now, I dont allow her on the bed because she is getting older, and was trying to jump off the bed by herself. So now she sleeps in her kennel with the doors open. I am getting a baby pit bull in 5 weeks, and I will not allow her to be in the bed either, mainly because of the room she will take up! Im already sharing a queen sized bed with my husband and thats enough for me! Plus dogs are just as content on a nice pillow or blanket on the ground.

My mother kept her large labrodor out back alot. He actually liked it better outside, it was almost as if he was claustrophobic when he came inside. (he was also 130lbs so he wasn't very graceful) He was brought inside mostly only at night, or when it rained, and even then it was more up to him than us. So no, it doesn't have to be cruel to keep your dogs outside. It just depends on the dog. I wouldn't plan on turning your boyfriends spoiled pups into outside dogs anytime soon though! They've already tasted the good life, and it sound like they love it!

Good Luck!

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

Maybe you should consider getting a boyfriend with similiar views to your own

Because if a boyfriend of mine even hinted at keeping my dogs outside, he would get kicked to the curb

With some breeds they need frequent bathing others frequent washing can cause skin problems since washing strips oil from there skin thugh a couple baths a year is nornally okay

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

First of all, dogs don't NEED more than 2 baths A YEAR folks. Yuh, if they're covered in mud, hose'em down before letting them back into the house, but frequent bathing strips a dog's skin of its natural oils and can lead to dryness, itching, hot spots.

I don't see the harm in letting the dogs lie on the kitchen floor, so long as they're not on the counters or any other surface that you are using to prepare food. They want to be where the action is, and it probably smells darn good to them.

It is NOT cruel to keep a dog outside, so long as he doesn't have to sleep out there, and can come in during bad weather. Chaining a dog to a tree is cruel, but having a large kennel with a dog house is fine, so long as you don't expect the dog to "live" there.

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

dog lovers do sleep with there dogs.

thy also bath them every month.!!

and a clean dog can go anywhere in the house.

Is it mean to keep dig dirty shedding dogs out of the kitchen? I think a clean kitchen is essential.?

I think you both need training. Especially your boyfriend. It is not common practice to let dogs sleep with you nor is it common practice to allow dogs in the kitchen. Allowing both practices to continue will eventually cause more problems. As for you, dogs need to socialize with humans and people, so keeping them outside all the time is not best for them. If you do this...then why on earth do you have or even want a dog?

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

I am very Allergic to cats my throat closes up if i hold one (this sucks)

Now something odd has happened i was peting my husky and the husky jumped in my lap (ouch) he got dog hair all over me he is shedding very bad right now, some how a dog hair got in my mouth and then my throat started to swell up again all most as bad as when i hold a cat ....

I am Allergic to dogs? if so what can i do so that i can keep my dog?

Are there any Dogs that people that are Allergic can have?

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

See a Doctor/Allergist. My doctor gave me a prescription to Allegra. A 24 hour allergy pill.

Wash your dog each week with non-perfumey moisture shampoo. Comb your dog every few days.

Cheapest is wear a face mask when with your dog.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

sounds like you are allergic to animal dander.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

you may be allergic to the hair or whatever the dog was rolling in that day. For the longest time they though i was allergic to cats, but we found out that i was allergic to the bush they were rubbing up against in my backyard. So it could be many different things. It may or may not be your dog!

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

my friend said she takes claritin for her alergies that way she can keep her cat so maybe you could try that and see if that works good luck

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

You should really go to your doctor and get tested for different things you might be allergic to, they might be able to help with medications.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

I would tell the doctor for one thing. the only cats and dogs you would not be allergic to are the hairless breeds. they look like shaved rats, though!!

My husband is allergic to cats and we have 3 of them. He uses Flonase and Claritin

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

I think that if you are allergic to dogs, the only dog you can possibly have is a hairless one (given that I don't think a lot of them are very attractive). You should check with your doctor to see if you are allergic and if you are, maybe he can give you treatment for it. Like a shot every week to suspend your allergies. See your doctor to make sure.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

I dont know how much it would help, but have you tried talking to a doctor about these allergies? Im very allergic to cats but ever since my doctor put me on some allergy medications, I have been doing great.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

It sounds like your are generally alergic to animal dander. I have heard of a production at the pet stores that you can brush into your pets hair to prevent alergic reactions. I have no idea how it works but it probably prevents them from spreading dander everywhere.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

Talk to your doctor about an allergy medication (for you) that works well with pet dander (generally, if you are allergic to cats, your allergic to dogs.). You may have to take a pill and a nasal spray. Also bathe and brush your dog regularly, vacuum and wash his bed on a weekly basis.

Dogs that are good for people with allergies are the dogs with only 1 coat: schnauzers, poodles, etc.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

You need to check with a doctor before you jump to any conclusions, but if this is the first time you've ever had any reaction at all, you may be OK. If you do get another dog, get either a poodle or bichon frieze (sp?)--they don't have fur, they have hair.

Alergic to Cats and now maybe Dogs? can you help?

i would say teach the dog to stay down,or keep your mouth closed

I have two older dogs who shed like crazy. What can I do?

i have 2 dogs that shed like crazy. we are not giving them up for they are family dogs. but i need to know what can I do to help them stop shedding so much and a faster way of cleaning up the dog hair! they are medium sized dogs with short hair. thank to anyone that can help!

I have two older dogs who shed like crazy. What can I do?

The first thing to do with shedding dogs is to make certain that they are getting GREAT food...poor nutrition is a major source of shedding...a good place to start with nutrition: if you can buy it a Wal-Mart, you don't want to feed it to your dogs...talk to a pet nutritionist (most offer phone consultations)...I saw a HUGE reduction in shedding when I switched to a better food.

Second, I don't know what breeds your dogs are, so talk to a groomer about what kind of brush is best for your dog...there really is a difference in brushes, and the "best" will vary according to your dog's breed.

Third, my friends and family who have pets all swear by the Dyson Animal Vaccum for clean up...they say it does the best at picking up hair...I removed all of the carpet from my home and replaced it with laminate flooring, it made cleaning up a lot easier.

There's no perfect answer for you, it depends on what you are willing/able to do, but I hope i gave you some ideas on where to start.

I have two older dogs who shed like crazy. What can I do?

Completely strip them down. If it means making them bald, then it means making them bald. Or you could groom them daily. It could be good that they shed so much; there's a company that you can send the fur to. They'll spin it into yarn for you! I don't know the name of it, but you'll probably be able to find it if you google something like "dog fur into yarn" or something like that.

I have two older dogs who shed like crazy. What can I do?

for the shedding problem it helps if u brush them every once in a while but i dont kno any quick way to clean it up

I have two older dogs who shed like crazy. What can I do?

mix 2tbs. of olive oil into your's pet's food twice a week. The essential fatty acids in the oil help to reduce (or even eliminate) nonseasonal shedding. Plus, the add-in promotes heathly skin and a lustrous coat.

Mum hates/loves dogs?

we've had our dog for about 10 months now and for the first few months, he was doing what every mischievous puppy would do, pee in the house, rip up things, it all apart of the puppies life! and on the first day we got, she said she wanted to get rid of it! luckily, i convinced her to let him stay. throughout this whole time, sometimes she would complain about how she regrets taking the dog in and shi*t and some days she'll say she loves the dog and how well he behaves. now, once again, she wants to get rid of the dog. she'll say calmly i want to find the dog a different owner, he is ruining my health (even though he isnt because we've found a way to get dog hair off the carpet and clothes). i am so sick of her doing this, i have explained over and over that i take care of the dog but it is also the family dog. she doesnt pay for any of the dogs shots, food, toys NOTHING. i am so pissed off that she thinks its my dog. sure, i take care of it more than anyone else but she still needs

Mum hates/loves dogs?

You need to keep the dog outside (but not able to roam) when you're not there, and train him (obedience) so that your mother has no problem saying 'no' and he'll listen. Ask her how it affects her health, get her to explain to you how it affects her to have the dog, she may just feel that she's not being listened to, there may be things she wants to get and cannot, and you may find that after she's been able to vent, she calms down. Explain to her that it's people who change their minds about animals that are overpopulating SPCA's and places like that, since that's true.

It's not just your dog, so hoiw about she gets a bit more involved in the dog's life, shows a bit more interest? Who'se idea was it to get the dog?

Mum hates/loves dogs?

It's quite unfortunate that your puppy suddenly started misbehaving? A lot of things might have caused this.

First, what about the dog's diet? Did you change the dog's diet or feeding pattern? If yes, I think that you should go back to the original pattern.

Secondly, did anyone start 'over-playing' with the dog? My puppy started doing same when i started over-playing with the puppy.

Thirdly, I think that the puppy's restlessness might be as a result of 'heat'. Your puppy might be on heat - desire to mate.

CHeck all these and if the problem persists, I think that you should re-train your dog or dispose off it. It's probably gone sane.

Mum hates/loves dogs?

i guess your mom is just tired of seeing her house being peed on by a small creature. It's her house, she has every right to be frustrated when someone is messing it up all the time. I suggest you train your dog to do his/her business outside the house

Mum hates/loves dogs?

The only solution seems to be to either do 100% to take care of the dog and keep it from bothering your mom, or find it another home. If she doesn't want it, then you can't expect her to pay for its expenses.

It seems like my dog is growing backwards..?

My boyfriend %26amp; I bought a beagle in December. He is now 5 months old. When we first got him, we trained him pretty well to do his business on newspaper in a corner of our livingroom. Now, he will be standing anywhere, and just does it right there. Also, everytime we call him, he thinks he's in trouble, so he crouches down, and just rolls over onto his back. He's also been pooping in the bathroom and rolling around in it while we are at work. So basically it's everywhere.

He also has a rash or something of that sort on his back which is causing hair loss.

Help!

It seems like my dog is growing backwards..?

First, neuter your dog. This will cut down on the inappropriate urination. Second, buy a crate and crate-train your dog. This will help with potty training. As for the hair loss, you need to see a Vet to determine what is going on there.

It seems like my dog is growing backwards..?

He could have a skin disorder and the rolling in his crap could be instinct. Go to a vet!

It seems like my dog is growing backwards..?

My puppy went backwards when something was wrong with her, which is probably your dog's deal. take him to get checked out, and put on some antibiotics. after the skin infection clears up he should be back to normal. you'll just have to really reinforce the rules.

Recommendations for shih-tzu dog groomers?

Hi, my baby will need her first hair cut soon. Any recommendations in London and would I be able to get a say in the style and any sites where I could see some different styles?

Recommendations for shih-tzu dog groomers?

Often a grooming salon wont let you see what goes on behind closed doors. Any groomer interested in your animal's welfare WILL let you see what goes on. Just get a puppy cut initially for your little one - anything too drastic and you'll feel sad that she now looks like an adult. Also, ask at the salons if they use drying cabinets - not recommended. Many do and I think it is cruel and dangerous that a dog is locked up in something that can overheat them. Hand held hairdrying is much safer and less stressful for your animal. Have you considered finding a mobile groomer who would come to your home to do your little dog. Shih tzu can get stressed at being taken to somewhere strange and left anyway and this would be the solution to the stress factor. I have mine done at home and I can see exactly what is going on. Speak with others with similar breeds when you go out walking - there will always be someone willing to give you a referral to who they use. Enjoy your little shih tzu - I have 2 girls, and lost a boy one 18 months ago. They are fabulous little characters.

Recommendations for shih-tzu dog groomers?

Call around to your different groomers in your area. I would ask for a show groomer as they tend to do the best job in my opinion. I had one before she left, but she did a fantastic job on my shih tzu. Show groomers compete against other groomers, so they tend to be more picky.

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea & tick drops?

I have noticed that after I put flea %26amp; tick prevention drops on my dogs (they both have black coats) that a white substance (sort of looks like powder) appears at the tips of their hairs almost immediatly...even before the substance has fully disbursed. Are these the flea eggs and larve or something else?

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

It would help to know what product you are using. My guess is likely an OTC product?

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

OTC products will do this. They aren't safe to use. They can cause some very serious problems including death. Report It

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

Hmmm, what about Frontline? That's the one my vet recomended. Report It

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

POISON! These products are pesticides and not only have an effect to the outside of your dog but the inside of your dog too.

Yah yah yah... I know everyone is doing it so it is OK...

We don't poison our dogs in the name of 'prevention'. We feed raw food, do limited vaccines and fleas and ticks are not interested in our healthy dogs so we don't have to poison them every 30 days.

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

I use flea drops, but my dog is white so it wouldn't show anyway. It might be that a bit of the product is getting caught up in the fur as you lift the pipette away from the skin.It seems strange that it shows so soon after application.

Next time you visit your vet might be a good idea to mention it.

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

Puss coming out

What is the white stuff that appears on my dog after I apply flea %26amp; tick drops?

Your dogs are sniffing cocaine off each other.

Why is my dog molting so much?

I have a 4 year old female lab, and lately she has started molting heaps. Its the middle of winter here and freezing cold at night so I'm worried about her losing so much hair when she needs the warmth

Why is my dog molting so much?

Could be anything, a vitamin deficency, stress, mange, for the best answer, and treatment, have a vet check her out.oh yeah, dogs shed, they don't molt, thats' for the birds.

Why is my dog molting so much?

Is your central heating on?

My cats moult all year round because of this.

Why is my dog molting so much?

She's a lab. That's what they do. Having her spayed will help though, and good quality dog kibble.

Why is my dog molting so much?

Dogs will shed 2 x a year. I guess it depends on where you live....but usually they shed in the fall and spring.

Wow....where do you live?? It's in the middle of the summer where I live...you must live on the other side of the earth!! That's cool!

Why is my dog molting so much?

Your dog probably has the Plague. You should catapult her carcass into your enemy's backyard. That's what they did back in the day.

Why is my dog molting so much?

its normal but you can try washing her with dawn dish detergent and then wash her with your conditoner
