Our Ausralian Cattle Dog/ Jack Russell is biting her fur off her belly and back legs. She has a mild case of fleas and is being treated but I dont think thats the reason. Whats wrong?

Another major reason in animals for chewing hair out is because of stress. Is there any other great changes at home,or other animals, or anything else?

Things can build up. Think of people that don't realize until they're really stress, that they don't like the situation they are in. It's not your fault, you just have to see if you can eliminate what stresses her.

It may be that it's just the mental stress cause by the physical stress of the flees.(In plain english: flees are stressing her out) It can be stressful for the dog if flees been hard to treat, and this has been going on for couple days.

There is a reason they say "She can't take it any more, she will pull all her hair out."

yes it is probley the fleas that are making her skin itch so she chews the skin. To make the itch stop but it just makes if worse just like are scrahing a bug bite.

Go buy some vitamin c supplements that's what we did with my puppy he's 4 it helps but if its severe then consulate a vet it may be sick

She is probly allergic to fleas. Go to a pet supply store and buy medicated oatmeal shampoo. It is very soothing.

It is the fleas that are causing her to bite her skin. You need to get it treated for and it will be fine.

My dog had bad case of fleas ... She was biting the back of her legs and belly ... I gave her advantage treatment (I got it from the vet) and it worked killed all the fleas ... The vet says the hair will grow back ...

I know it looks ugly without the hair ... But eventually it will grow back ... My mama gave me some medicine for dogs which today is no longer found at stores ... It helped the hot spots ... Perhaps you can go to Wal Mart and look at the pet section and look for medicine to smooth hot spots ...

She may have a flea allergy which causes flea allergy dermatitis. She needs a visit to the vet to get some antibiotics to help the itching stop and you need to keep treating for fleas every 6weeks with an appropriate vet approved flea product.
