i have 2 dogs. a cocker spaniel, and a pointer, dalmation mix. the problem with the pointer/dalmation mix is that she sheds like crazy!!!!! there is hair everywhere in the house where she has been. and she is only 7 months old. somebody give me some ideas to help her stop shedding!

Ask any Dalmation owner and they will tell you that Dalmations are heavy shedders (all year round).

Brush with a fine tooth brush called a slicker brush. Be careful not to brush too hard or on the face or legs with this type of brush as it's bristles are like needles. Brush at least twice a day until you see some improvement. Then brush daily.

If your dog has an undercoat (hair under the top hair that appears somewhat different in texture) a good metal comb works well if you lay it flat against the hair/skin and comb in the direction of growth. This actually works quite well on short haired shedders.

A bi-monthly bath will loosen up the hair. Brush or comb the dog well BEFORE %26amp; After the bath. Work the loose hair off frequently as the dogs hair dries.

Lots of brushing, combing, and good nutrition should get a handle on it.... but there'll always be plenty of shedding anyway.

I suggest you invest in a good vacuum! LOL!

it's the time of year that dogs shed. I use a shampoo that helps with shedding, also giving her table scraps can make a dog shed worse. they dont get the nutrition that they need from our food.

Try switching her to a premium kibble. You can also vacuum her. I vacuum my dogs daily, along with the carpets!

Don't worry, part of it is she is probably shedding her puppy coat . . . that coupled with the time of year, it just may be hitting her hard! A bath and a good brushing may help tons!

Sorry, some dogs are like that, I'm stuck with the same problem with my shepard/husky *****. Hair, hair hair. All you can do is brush a lot, get her a haircut at the puppy parlour when you can, buy a dog hair/lint roller, one of those sweepers that have a cup you empty, they pick up more hair... or give her up. I have tried all else like special combs and shampoos, not much help, After much thought I don't think non shedding shampoos, etc., are healthy for them because it is nature, basically they are just meant to shed... good luck hun.

Find a grooming shop which uses the 'Furminator'-- the 'shed-less solution'. This is not painful to the critter. After having the Furminator used two or three times the shedding can be reduced from 60 to 80%. We have a grooming shop in our business and this is a tested true product! Other things we suggest are that you have your dog eating a premium dog food without corn for instance and also, to take your dog to the vet for a check-up to make sure all systems are working properly! you can trim her hair yourself or take her to the beauty parlor for pets and have it done,use good animal shampoo regularly and brush her daily i wish you had pictures sounds like an interesting mix of breeds

If the dog has long fur, get the Furminator. I bought it and love it! With the hair it takes off I could build a new dog. It rakes the under coat which is the coat that sheds so you are basically getting it out before it falls out all over your floor. Also I highly highly suggest getting the omega fatty acid oil for dogs and put it on the dog's food. After a month you will see huge improvement...and continue it every day. It has helped me keep my sanity...I was tired of having to vacuum on a daily basis. My dog's coat is shiny and soft he barely sheds now. The better comdition the fur and skin are in the less the dog sheds. I can't believe the improvement. I used something called "Derm Caps" Liquid...but anything with the Omegas will do. Down side is it takes about a month to see a difference, but if you continue you will see remarakble difference in how much hair falls out.

you can't stop a dog from shedding. However, you may consider getting her oatmeal shampoo at the pet store.. I am not a vet or anything.. I have a siberian husky and she sheds terribly, I asked the people at the pet store what can help the shedding, and they recommended oatmeal shampoo.. Also I brush her every day to egt the loose hair off her coat. That has helped alot also.. Hope I was somewhat of a help... Good luck!

Dogs shed. There's not much you can do to stop it completely. If the pups only 7 months what she is doing is still losing her puppy coat. And that's why she seems to be shedding a great deal. If that's the case? The shedding will slow down after the puppy coat is all shedded out. A good Idea is to brush her daily and try to get the loose hair out and it won't be as bad. Even after she has lost her puppy coat she will most likely still shed some what. But by continuing to brush brush her regularly will help with the shedding and make it not as bad.

Dogs normally shed their coats with the seasons, but if yours is shedding all the time?... it could be a nutrition issue. It could be the food you are feeding her is not right for the dog. You may need to change to a better brand and NO PEOPLE FOOD!! It also could be an allergy.. some dogs have sensitive immune systems and may need medication or shots. You really should take the dog to the vet and let them help you decide. Vet bills can be heavy, so try the food change first, maybe Pedigree or Nutra, they have alot of different catagories.
