Im pregnant and i have 2 dogs....?

My husband and i love our 2 beagles so much, but now that im pregnant with our first child, i dont know if i want to keep them. I keep thinking about the dog hair everywhere (and i feel as if i constantly clean it up but it just keeps coming back) and my little baby crawling on it!! Any suggestions or words of advise?? I cant put them outside because they have been indoors since they were little.

Our beagle is our daughter's best friend. They love each other so much. As long as you vacuum often enough and don't leave them alone in a room together without supervision, everything will be fine. The only problem we have now is that they love to play together and sometimes the dog knocks my daughter down b/c she jumps a lot. But, she gets a firm talking to and behaves herself after that. Our beagle has never hurt our daughter.

We have a big dog, a lab. And, YES, she sheds like crazy. Noah is 9mths now and the dog is his best friend. She provides endless entertainment to our little one. She constantly puts a smile on his face :) Don't worry about the dog hair, vacuum as often as possible. No big deal.

Teach your dogs not to be on the furniture. When you put the baby on the floor, put him/her on a blanket. You've raised the dogs since they were pups, it would be wrong to shoo them away b/c you are having a baby. Taking your dogs out doors to brush them will help eliminate some of the extra hair that they shed. The dogs are part of your family.

I know exactly what you mean, i was in the same situation. Im from norway and so is my dog, it took me two years to get him over to the UK and just as he was ready to come over, we discovered i was pregnant..needless to say that i was very confused and had no idea what to do. I missed my dog and love him very much but now i started having all these worries..hair, dogfood, mucky paws, flees and the obvious thing, is he going to get jealous and will my baby be safe? My dog has always been calm, relaxed and happy and gets on well with children so i didn't really think it was an issue (he's a jack russell)

So we decided to fly him over after all and was pretty positive it would work out and it did until the day my daughter was born..he never gets the attention, exercise, playtime and love he used to get and deserves, i constantly get frustrated about dog hair everywhere, worried about what my daughter will pick up fromm the floor after him now that she's about to crawl and always get angry with him when he wakes her up by running on the wooden floor etc...our three times a day long fun walks have changed to to quick chore-walks and it's always my partner that takes him out (we live in a flat so no garden). This is obvioulsy not my dog's fault and he doesn;t deserve it so we have decided to give him to a nice couple without children just because he is now unhappy and we can't see things changing soon as we're now expecting another baby..hate that we have to do it but it is for the best for him

Sorry, this is probably not what you wanted to hear but this was our situation and yours may be different so hope you can work something out that is good for all

Good luck x

We have a black lab and he sheds ALOT. Right now my daughter is only 12 weeks old and not crawling yet. When I am on the floor with her I always lay a blanket down. I vacuum atleast once a day.

Please don't get rid of your beagles. They might end up in a shelter and be euthanized. I have a beagle, too, and she brings so much joy to my life. If these beagles have been with you since they were puppies, they are part of your family, too.

My beagle is an "outside dog" because my family does not want dogs inside the house. I had no choice but to agree to that because I wanted this beagle so much. I bought her the best dog house I could afford, I keep it clean every single day, I sweep her dog hair off the garage floor, I pick up after her so as not to give my family any reason to complain. I do what I have to do to keep her in the family and in my life.

We have two dogs and a very fur-laden baby who loves them (and vice versa). The hair is a pain in the neck, but a love of animals is an important thing for me to foster in him. And studies show that babies exposed to hair and dander earlier have less allergies later in life than babies not exposed. So that is a positive too!

I know how your feeling. . . I have a 75lb weimaraner and hes a HUGE pain in the ***! He's a ton of work, not to mention I worried about the baby and how they would get along. Well our son is now 17 months old and Duke (the dog) is his best friend. When he wakes up in the morning the first thing he says is "duka-duke". My son crawls all over him, hugs him, and duke licks him back, but they are best buddies, and I think Tyler really enjoys having him around. So I'm glad we didn't give him away, bc he makes our son happy. . . . he's like a giant teddy bear to him. Its also nice b/c our son is definitely not afraid of dogs since he's being raised with one.
