I have a dobe/german shep mix and she itches so bad, I have tried everything, ahe just itches right on the top of her tail and pulls the hair out. Also I need to know of anything that helps with shedding, I cant shave her because other than looking ridiculous there is a chance her hair will never grow back.

There are several possibilities.

This could be a stress-related activity. Make sure your dog has lots of activity and is well cared for.

It could also be diet related. If she is not getting the oils and nutrients she needs she could have skin issues.

It could also be a sensitivity of some sort. Dogs, like people, can develop allergies.

You don't say how old she is, but it could also be joint pain which is bothering her.

The best thing to do is to have a vet check her out and see what is going on.

OK i had the same problem about two weeks ago and ill tell you the same thing my vet told me every time you feed her pour some vegetable oil on her food ill tell you what i use that along with brewers yeast and the shedding slowed and the itching stopped its amazing that something as simple as vegetable oil corrected this problem ..........good luck

dogs cait stop shedding because of there sweat gland and try anti flea gone they should have it in the pet store i have a choclate lab he sheds all the time but i caint stop it and the anti flea gone worked its a spray it works and if you dont want the hair too be every were in the house you should get a cage and if yo have a front porch put him/her up there and have the food dish and water in sinde put a blanket inside the cage too put the food and water inside belive me it works

i reccomend you see the vet , my dog had the exact same thing only mines a yorkie, its a shame i know but just see what the vet says , but for the meanwhile TRY suda crem on the area its sounds daft but hopefully , that will ease the itch and the dog might not tugg as much xx ps. good luck though x

As you know most dogs shed! I would try Vitalin it's available from most pet shops.There are two kinds, one for a healthy coat and one for healthy bones.

supplements. 1st. take her to the vet and make sure it's not a skin condition that needs medication. She could be allergic to fleas and just have them by her tail or she may have eczema. Omaha Vaccine sells a lot of supplements to take care of shedding and itching. They have a great website.

When a dog itches it generally means that they have dry skin. IT can also mean that they have flees. If the skin is dry you can buy special shampoo for the dogs skin condition. Also brushing the dog really helps because it causes the skin to release natural oils. For the shedding again brushing does help the reason why dogs shed so much is because they have an extra layer of fur caught with in there original fur that is hard to get out with a regular brush so what you can do is they have special combs for this other layer of hair that is caught it gets in deeper to get rid of that hair that is lose which does reduce the shedding.

In the future if you don't want a dog that sheds so much you can get a dog with real hair like a Maltese, shih tuz, and a couple other dogs plus you can get hair less dogs hope this helped
