I asked this question and got accused of being racist. Just as a disclaimer, it was not meant to be racist. As a matter of fact, I worded is rather carefully just so that it would not come off as being racist as I said that the main people I've noticed who do this are White. People get so paranoid when you name color, but did it ever occur to you people that certain cultures do things differently from others? I was making an observation and from what I've seen most other people of color (minorities in general) find it appalling that some people wash their dogs in the bathtub. It is true that the tub can be cleaned, however, it's not just the bacteria and filth, but dog hair has a tendency to

seriously clog a drain. So again, I find it unwise in more ways than one. So why do people do this? Is it a cultural issue because let's face it, the only one's that I've heard of doing this are White. It's not racist if it's true. :-\

i washed my cat in the bathtub once lol, it doesn't matter its easy to disinfect the bath and its a great source of warm water the question is why not!

Human hair has a tendency to clog the drains, as well. It's not like the dog is the only culprit when a drain gets clogged.

The bath-tub is convenient, especially during the colder months, where you don't want to risk the dog getting ill from bathing them outdoors.

It's quick, it's simple, and you don't have to worry about your dog rolling in the dirt directly after the bath, since they'll be indoors already.

You also have control over the temperature of the water, unlike if you were to use a waterhose.

How is this a racist question to begin with or have anythign to do with race? im white, live in a 5 bedroom 3 bath house and we wash our dog in spare bath which a cleaned weekly by the cleaning lady, whos black ... if not right after his bath.

I wash my dog in the bathtub, (we have 3 in my house and nobody uses that one), because he's too big to fit in a sink like I did when he was a puppy. Also, washing him outside is totally out of the question because I live in the north of Scotland and he'd basically freeze to death.

I've never had any problem with clogged drains, and obviously I wash the bath afterwards.

I've never really noticed the whole race thing though..... I'm white btw.

because she's too big for the sink and when its cold outside I don't want to put her in the tin tub not only that, she'll splash all the water out of the tin one. In the summer/spring I do it outside but winter in the tub. Also, I have a screen over my drain so it collects hair and what not so it don't clog it.

I do bath my dog in the tub. I clean it with comet and have a drain that stops the hair from clogging. My dog however weighs 25 lbs and is easy to bath in my tub. I made the mistake of bathing my sisters lab in the tub once and it clogged the drain big time.

I bathe my dog in the tub because i can use my sprayer, the water is warm and i have a thing in the drain that catches the hair. I don't fill the tub up with water, just spray her, shampoo her and rinse her off. She's a small dog, so it really isn't a big deal. Human hair goes down the drain also, and people are also dirty and have bacteria, so to me there is no difference.

You're so right, different cultures have different ways of doing things! Nothing racist at all in that comment. This is a new one to me. I thought EVERYONE bathed their dogs in the tub. My dog passed away 6 months ago and we usually took him to a groomer to be cleaned but I know on the rare occassions we did bathe him we did it in the tub. (and yes, I'm white!) It was a matter of practicality though. Our preference on warm days would be outside with the garden hose but he was a big dog and nearly impossible to keep still so he could be washed. We did the tub thing so he could be kept under control and he was too big to clean in the sink. And yah, we had to clean out the drain on those rare occassions we washed him in the tub. He was a long-haired American Eskimo. LOL!

Where do you bathe a dog? I live in the pacific northwest and my dog would freeze her you know what off if I bathed her anywhere but the tub. When I am done with my shower, my hubby puts her in with me. I have a hose on my shower head and use it to bathe her in nice warm water and she loves it. She is a small breed but even if I had a large dog, I would do it the same way.
