I am wondering what I could put on her hair to make it soft in some places it is really course and other places it is soft any conditioning ideas???

I would take the dog to a vet and let him check the dog out and then he could tell you what to use. You just don't want to put anything on it that maybe harmful , sounds like it went through enough, just be on the safe side and take the dog to a vet.

If your dog was malnourished, it could have affected the coat. Good nutrition will take care of that in a little time.

As for conditioner, I always found that hair conditioner for baby humans or little children worked better on my dogs than doggie conditioner.

When it comes to conditioners you can try any of them it might help but the breed she is it may not make the course hair soft but try anyway it can't hurt anything. I hate to hear of any animal being miss treated. Good luck with her hair! I am sure she has a good and loving home now!

Her hair may vlear up on its own with proper diet and a lot of care and loving. She was probably on a very poor diet. Bless you for rescuing this little dog.

you might just need to shave her. we has a poodle terrior mix from the humane society and he was badly abused and neglected. the only thing that made his hair nice was to just give him a shave and let it grow back, it was fine after that. good luck and congrats on you new family member!

if your dog was put in a cage while growing up, and maybe his elbows and legs are really stiff, then the damage is done, but keep loving him and give him plenty of attention, then it wont matter as much.
