If your dog does not like to walk, there is something wrong, not necessarily healthwise, but behavior- wise. ALL dogs like to walk because it a primal instinct. You need to walk your dog. Do not let him just stay in your house and play. If he puts up a fit, do not give in. Calmly and assertively let him know that he is walking now, but it is not up to him; it is up to you. Watch the Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan to find out how to correctly walk your dog at your side. He has many episodes about dogs who refuse to walk.

The earlier you start walking him, the better. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get him to walk. Anyone who says a puppy does not need to walk has no idea what they are talking about. I believe most health problems in dogs results from a lack of exercise, not too much exercise, similar to people. Dogs are meant to physically work, not laze around all the time. The second a puppy is born, his/her mom begins discipline, so why shouldn't you?

What exactly is your question?

Puppies of 3 months don't normally have their full coat. With Goldens the featherings don't appear until they are about 7/8 months and that is when they start to lose their puppy coats and get their adult coat.

He is still very young and it's not neccessary for him to go out walking much at the moment. Just let him have natural play in your own garden. Rule of thumb for Goldens is usually 1 minute for every week of their life so at three months he should only be having very short walks, e.g. 12 minutes per day. Goldens are prone to hip dysplasia and if you over exercise them too much when they are puppies you could get hip and joint problems later.

You say he is much larger than you think he should be.

Can you say what he weighs? Don't let him get too overweight as this also can damage to the joints.

I'd have a word with your Vet and check that he is the correct weight for his age.

Enjoy your puppy. He sounds delightful.
