He is a small breed of dog, and he has short hair.

He has a really good personality and he is very lovable.

I have had several boston terrier's and all of them have been great dogs and great with kids. With very little shedding.

caviler king charles spaniel. they love people! they nip as first when they are puppies, but all dogs do. they don't grow that much, and they are so cute. they do shed a little, but doesn't every dog? google cavilier king charles spaniel for more info

I'd say a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They are calm and kind with children. Look up to see if you can re-home a rescued one first though, less work than a new puppy and will already have been evaluated with children etc. Have fun!

Just 5 of the things you should be considering.

1. Bitches rather than dogs tend to be less aggressive

2. Some breeds like poodles for example don't shed hair.

3. Some breeds are known to have softer temperaments eg labradors..poodles have soft natures also

4. Breeds which have been bred down to a small size, tend to suffer more health problems.

5. Larger dogs need more excercise.(so if you want a small dog this wont be so much of a problem)

Statistically Labradors and Golden retrievers are the least likely dogs to bite in the world, good going given the number of them owned as pets. Both big dogs, labrador more medium sized, as far as the hair goes people are now breeding "labradoodles" a cross between a labrador and a poodle, these dogs do not cast hair!!! but can be quite expensive.

i know its not a small breed but if you get a girl it wont grow as big as a male.i have a rottie and a german shepard and they are excellant dogs around children i have 3 children aged 13, 6 and 3 and my rot is brilliant with them,its bad owners that make a dog bad! rotties have a very large brain and can pick up obediance v quickly and they not too hairy i love them!! but make sure if you choose this breed you read up about them loads and look at loads and get from proper breeder. small dogs are snappy (little dog syndrome) hope this helps. its a myth that ALL large breeds need lots of exercise you could mess up their hips if you walk them too far and too long.

i have a king charles spaniel and a staffordshire bull terrier and the staff is far better with kids. my daughter was 2 when we got the staff and shes brilliant with her. they're so loving so id reccomend a staff.

Maybe a border terrier or mini poodle....A mutt from the shelter would be your best bet though..mixed-breed dogs are usually really good with kids and very hardy..I wouldn't recommend a beagle unless you don't mind piles of short hair all over, just like labs...these dogs actually seem to shed more than long-haired dogs-if that's possible:)
