Shih tzus hair?

hey,

i was wondering how to cut my 7th month old shih tzus hair 2 a comfortable length for him , because we live in southern california were it gets pretty warm and i dont feel comfortable taking him 2 the groomers. because there was an incident of a groomer cutting a dogs ear off! WAT SHOULD I DO!

Trust me on this one. Take him to a groomer. I have 5 Shih Tzu pups. I tried to groom them once myself. I then had to call the groomer to fix what I had done. (It looks soooooo much easier than it really is!) Most groomers are extremely good at what they do, so you shouldn't worry about them harming your dog. You have a better chance of doing damage than a professional groomer. Good luck!

go to pets mart and get him shaved there are no sizzors used and don't cut it your self becasue they are very hyper dogs and you might cut his ear off leave it to a perfesional.

Cut it as short as possible. you want him to be comfortable, right? Dont shave him just go to a groomer and they will have the best advice as to cut the dog so he looks good and he is comfortable. Ask people you know who have dogs where they go to get their dogs groomed. im sure the groomer is not going to cut ur dogs ear off. DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

Ugh.. go to another groomer... doesn't that make sense? I'm sure there are plenty is S. Cal. I have the same dog, and there is no way you can cut his hair without jacking it up. When you find a good groomer tell them you want a short teddy bear cut, they'll know what to do. Always leave the tail long and face and ears fluffy.

I own a shih tzu and he is about half a yr.-8 months old. and his hair is long-ish but not really long. Its basically medium length. I live in Mississippi so it gets hot here too. We dont take him to get his hair cut but we dont take him out too often (usually just to use the bathroom) because it would be a lil bit too hot for him. But if we do take him out to play and stuff we try to keep him in the shade with a fresh bowl of cold water so he doesnt overheat =] ....You should probably take him to a professional groomer (do a background check) and get his hair cut if he goes outside A LOT. But if he's like mine then leave his hair long. (if you do get his hair cut then it'll grow back by winter =] )
