My dog has a cut?

I have an 11 year old black lab. I was playing fetch with her, when she slipped on my side walk. She sort of skimmed her lower leg. Her hair pulled out in a small area on her front right and she is bleeding a little bit. Not alot. I let her sstay still for a bit, checkked and nothing is broken. I asked her to come and she got up and wagged her tail. She seems find and has been licking her little cut. Do I need to do anything. Please help.

Keep an eye on it for signs of infection. After washing it you can also apply neosporin ointment to it.

Be careful of wrapping it, an incorrectly applied wrap can cut off circulation and cause major problems.

Use polysporine or some other anti back when you get home and try to medical tape down the flap of skin. If you can't, just hang in there, and keep cleaning, doesn't sound like a serious cut, it'll heal on it's own, just try to keep her from licking it so it can scab. If it starts to puss, bring her in to your vet.

sounds like its okay and she will take care of it herself...dogs have a cure in their tongue...so let it be but keep a small eye on it to be sure it doesnt infect...if you try to put anything on it your dog will just lick it off...so let her tend it herself...

hasn't your dog ever tended your cuts? My Chicklet does it all the time...and the cuts heal faster and don't get infected...remember in the wild there are no bandaids...

Don't let her lick the cut it will just make it worse. It should do fine on it's own, try bandaging it.

it is ok! just get some hydrogen peroxide to put on it so it doesn't get infected. dogs will always lick thier wounds. she will be fine. it is like when you fall down and skim your knee. it hurts, but you'll live.

Put antibiotic cream on the sore and then put vicks vapor rub on it that will take the soreness out of the scrape trust me it works.

How deep is the cut? If it's a good gash, you might want to take her in to the vet.

Otherwise, keep an eye on it, just as you would for you or for your child.

If it stays the same or gets worse, take your dog to the vet.

Don't listen to the advice about putting Vicks Vaporub on the cut -- that's simply ridiculous ! That stuff is NOT for open sores!
