Need some help for my dog pleeeeeease!! =(?

i have a chocolate lab who is covered with sores and i know it is so irritated =( her skin smells and her hair is shedding alot. after doing alot of research, it seems to me that she is allergic to her food which we switched recently and makes sense.

my question is, does anyone know any home remedies i can put on her skin just to ease the heat and redness and puffiness????

even the odor?

thankyou so much!

With an odor to the skin it sounds like a yeast infection or mange. I would take your dog to the vet to rule out either of those. I would not try to put anything on the skin until you get advise from your vet

Are u sure it's not mange? Sounds like a vet visit tomorrow is your best bet

oatmeal--------cook it and put it on there. She or he can eat it off after a while if he she wants.

Neosporin and go to the pet store and get some cortisone spray. The vet has a cream called animax which is like neosporin and not expensive. Your dog may need a shot of antibiotic though. They are called hot spots and if not treated right away can get very bad in a matter of hours. Also trim all of the fur away from the sores.

Get her to the vet - she must be miserable! It could be allergies, or as someone mentioned, it could be mange. Don't waste any more time messing around on the internet - go to the vet right away.

Walmart or pets mart

Some dog shampoos say that they leave the "scalp" of dogs healthy. Definitely a bath now, and another in a few days if needed. Scrub that sucker.

ooohh that sounds bad. my dog is allergic to penicillin...and when he went to get his shots, the vet injected him w/ a dose, he puffed up like a balloon. unfortunately, there are very few home remedies (none that i know of) that will help. the vet usually knows what do and ur doggy will get better alot faster.

I have raised labs for 8 years. You need to take her to the vet immediately. I am pretty sure she has mange. You have to give her a bath in a special medicine. It will not go away until you do this. Also other dogs will get it from her.

Grind oatmeal really fine and mix it with some olive oil. Spreading this on her skin will help relieve the redness and irritation, but you may have to be creative about keeping her from eating it. I had a dog develop a food allergy and had good success with a lamb and rice formula that didn't contain any beef or horse by-product. You may have your vet take a look at her for demoditic mange. This is a non-contagious mange that is caused by a weakness in the dogs immune system that makes them unable to fight off a mite found on most dogs skin in smaller quantities. It has a really mousy odor, and will irritate her skin in the same way. There are dips available to control this, but you'll need to see a vet to find out if this is what her problem is. Also a vet can give you an antibiotic to keep her from developing infection from the open sores. Good Luck

oh my, i would go to the vet, we had a dalmation that had sores and kept licking them and they kept getting worse, the vet put her on prednizone and it cleared up immediately, please go to the vet!!

First of all you need to take your dog to the vet, if it was just hot spots it would not smell, there is an infection present. Your vet can help more then any home remedies. There is a medicine that you can get a pet store just for hot spots. But still take your dog to a Vet as there is an infection....................

maybe bathe her in some baby shampoo and then use some neopsporin on the sores but this is probably something that should be addressed by a vet

i would recommend bathing her with baking soda. the oatmeal idea suggested might also work. i dont know about neosporin, because if she eats it, im not sure what the effects would be.

so yeah, i think your best bet would be cool (NOT cold) maybe even warm water, gentle soak in the tub with baking soda massaged into her skin and fur.

and definitly take her to the vet a.s.a.p. but im assuming you were going to do that anyway. hopefully they'll have a lotion or powder that will work

good luck!

you could buying a bottle of Neem Oil from a health food store, rubbing a drop or two into the enflamed spots should help with the reddness.

go to the vet! asking for a home remedy just means you're too cheap to go to the vet most likely. just go...it's what's best for your dog.

get some comfrey, a leafy perennial herb. use the roots and leaves. put them in a blender with just enough water to make a thin paste. rub this into her skin two or three times a day.comfrey is an ancient herb with aniseptic healing properties. please try it, and good luck.
