Guess what breed(s) Marley the dog is?

Marley is 5 years old and weighs 75lbs. He also has a purple spotted tongue. He has a long-hair, brindle coat; his tail is bushy; his eyes are brown. I'm not sure what he is and everyone seems to have a different opinion...let's hear yours. Here are links to a couple pics from my WebShots:

Marley is a very handsome boy! I believe he is a Catahoula Cattle dog.

There are several variety of Catahoula, and Marley looks like the ones at the hearding competitions.

No body could argue with you, if you called him a purebred...as he is identical to several purebreds I have seen...(However, the 'purebreds' at the heading trials, were likely mixed with Australian shepherds, or Border collies, several generations back)

Catahoulas were/are prized for going into the harsh brush, and finding cattle, hearding them back to a central herd..they can work quite independantly.

I've got a Coonhound with a purple spotted tongue. I've been told only labs have that gene, so she's a mix. If that info is correct, Marley's part lab!

I am thinking there might be some catahoula in there, perhaps mixed with golden retriever.

I'd say, part chow on the tongue, part pit bull on the brindle coat, and the face and body remind me of a golden retriever. But all around, love bug- What a cutie !!!!

i think he's a mix.....i believe he might have some retriever in him......but i could be wrong

WOW- What a cutie pie. It is hard to tell, he could be a mix of so many breeds.... It would help if I knew what his temperament/behavior was like. I think "mega-mutt" and not in a mean way, I think he looks great.

Golden Retriever, German Shepard, Some sort of Spaniel, A little bit of Lab???? Just a guess...Cute dog though :)

He is 100% Mutt, but he looks like he is part grey hound, a shepherd, and maybe even hound, but you will never know...

He looks like he has golden retriever in him the brindle could come from a shepherd or Belgian Malionwa and if he has purple on his tongue he probable has chow chow in him.

I'd also guess a bit to shepherd and possibily wolf - his eyes are wolfish and his legs are quite long - another clue theres some wolf in him

My guess would be a German Shephard cross. He is definately NOT a purebred but doesn't make him any less of a dog. All the dogs I have ever owned were mutts and I couldn't have been happier!

Marley is not a Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog. Their coats are not bushy but some coats can be course, and most are short and tight. The short, single coat is colored in a merle or black/tan pattern and not brindle. I yahooed shepherd mix pics and what do you know? I got a pic of a couple of dogs and one looks just like your Marley and they are calling it a Sheperd Mix.

My friend had a dog that looked very similar. The mom was a golden and then dad was an australian cattle/german shepard. The dark spotted tongue sounds like a chow mix though!
